Specialist Dementia Care – What Matters To You, Matters To Us

Choosing specialist care for your loved one is an experience charged with a mix of emotions. When that loved one has a diagnosis of dementia, there is the added responsibility of knowing that they may not be able to make their wishes and preferences known. So how do you know which home will best suit their needs?

Dementia Care at Ferfoot

At Ferfoot, we specialise in helping our residents live well with dementia at all stages from early onset to palliative care. Our team of dedicated professionals is led by Home Manager Nicki Stone who is a registered nurse with more than 20 years’ experience of working in care. As specialists, we are familiar with the different types of dementia and our focus is on meeting people’s individual requirements with dignity and respect.

Understanding our residents

Surrounding everyone with familiarity, security and stimulation, we make our residents’ experience with us as fulfilling as it can be. Nicki says: “No two people with a diagnosis of dementia necessarily display the same symptoms. We recognise that everyone has their own needs and background which will influence their behaviour. We find out about that background and understand each individual.

“As well as treating physical symptoms, we involve residents in meaningful activities, updating their care plans constantly to reflect any changes and always keeping them at the centre of everything we do.”
